Tips for Success

  • Memorize your monologue.
  • Time your monologue. You will be stopped at 2 minutes
  • Arrive early enough to check-in, complete your paperwork & gather your thoughts.
  • Prior to your audition, you will be asked to indicate your availability for festival performances and rehearsal venues.
  • The audience will consist of approximately 60 people. Our audience consists of participating directors, producers, playwrights, invited talent and casting agents and representatives of the City Theater and the Public Theater.
  • Playwrights and Directors who are participating in the Festival and wish to audition for acting roles, must audition in the first timeslots on Saturday.
  • You will be introduced and your availability explained to the audience. Announce the name of the play, the playwright and the name of your character for your monologue. Do not set the stage for your monologue.
  • Walk-in’s will be accepted. Expect to wait for an opening if you haven’t scheduled an appointment.
  • We try to adhere to our schedule. If there is a delay, please be patient.
